Green, cream, and hot pink on the same leaf—then a purple underside that shows every time it lifts at night. New leaves unfurl like rolled flags. It is the loudest plant in the prayer-plant family, and it moves: open by day, folded by evening.

Treat it like a calathea with better clothes. Bright, indirect light keeps the pink from washing out. Distilled, rain, or filtered water if your tap is hard. Keep the mix evenly moist and the air a little humid, or the edges will crisp.

Water: Evenly moist. Low-mineral, room-temp water if you can.
