Nepenthes — hanging basket
A vine that sets traps. From a hanging basket, slender pitchers dangle like little jugs—green, mottled, sometimes flushed red. Insects go in. The plant does the rest. It looks tropical because it is: this is the one you hang where people look up.
Bright light, no fertilizer in the pitcher. Use distilled, rain, or RO water; tap water will slowly ruin it. Keep the mix damp, never bone-dry, and never soggy in a closed saucer. Don’t pour fertilizer or food into the pitchers—let them catch what they catch.
Light: Bright indirect to strong filtered light. More light = more pitchers.
Water: Distilled or rainwater. Keep evenly moist.
Soil: Airy carnivorous mix (sphagnum/perlite). Never regular potting soil.
Feed: Skip it. House flies are enough.
Pet note: Not a snack. Keep curious pets from chewing the pitchers.
