Pachira aquatica — 4" pot
Four trunks twisted into one little tree. Bright green palmate leaves sit on top of a braid that already looks like it belongs on a desk. The 4" size is the starter—small enough for a shelf or gift, sturdy enough to actually grow.
Bright, indirect light. Water when the top of the soil is dry; it would rather go a little thirsty than stay wet. The braid is decorative, not a guarantee of fortune, but it is an easy houseplant with a built-in story.
