PICK UP ONLY! These will be ready mid-April for pick up. We will contact you when ready. If ordering bare root berries we CANNOT hold them until fruit trees ready for pick up as they will arrive earlier. We prefer you choose "Pay at Pick up" when checking out in case something does not arrive as expected.
The Empress plum is a popular late-season European prune-type variety (also known as Blue Imperatrice). Ripens very late (mid- to late September, or early October in some regions). Fruits are large in size (typically 1.75–2.5 inches long), oval to oblong or slightly pointed/elliptical shape.Skin is smooth dark blue to deep purple with a powdery bloom; flesh is golden-yellow to greenish-yellow, firm, dense, juicy, and semi-freestone to partially freestone with a sweet, rich, sugary flavor—excellent quality for fresh eating or processing.Versatile for fresh eating, snacking, canning, preserves, baking, cooking, drying into prunes, and long storage (up to several weeks).
"Healthy bare-root plum tree, about 4-5 feet tall with a solid 3/4 inch trunk diameter—perfect size to plant now and enjoy fruit sooner!"
Good pollinators: Stanley (Empress is not self-fertile and requires cross-pollination for reliable yields).
